The first image is of a Brandt’s Cormorant parent and chick, with the other parent looking on. Photographed in Monterey, California ~ July 2014. The rookery is near a public pier but protected from people by a metal gate and fence. The cormorants seem well acclimated to wildlife watchers passing by.
